I’m Not the Rumor. I’m the Record.

Bhavana stepped onto campus, sketchbook in one hand & colored pens in the other hand, and heard Keerthana’s voice cutting through the air.

“Some people act all sweet, but they’re so fake,” Keerthana smirked, focussing her eyes on Bhavana.

Bhavana replied “When you put me down, I feel disrespected. Please stop.”

By break time, people were whispering everywhere like little bugs buzzing around about Bhavana

“ She doesn’t follow what she preaches ”
“ Keerthana said She is a Fake ”
“ She is VERY DUMB, lives in her own illusions ”

Bhavana took a breath, slow and deep. Not a panic process. She messaged her teacher:

May I speak after class about group behaviour and rumours?

At lunch, Keerthana sat beside her, giving braod sugary smile

“Just informing you, Bhavana, for your good. People are thinking like this about you ”

“That’s again ANOTHER NEW rumour,” Bhavana said evenly.

“I’ll respond through the proper channels. Please stop this Keerthana ”

That night, Keerthana did it again: she blocked Bhavana, removed, and spread rumours in the class chat that Archana Herself Left the Group - Again Lies

Bhavana didn’t Cry. She screenshotted everything, then wrote a clear email to her teacher, principal & other Authorities.

" Please move all class info to official platforms. Set neutral admins. Please Ban removals and rumours in this class "

By morning, a notice went up: NEW CLASS COMMUNICATION POLICY

Rumors? Banned. Power games? Over.

One by one, classmates returned. “Didn’t know you were blocked.” “Sorry I believed her.”

“Here is our yesterday’s notes.”

Bhavana smiled, quiet but firm.

Later, when Keerthana hissed, “You turned everyone against me,”

 Bhavana said only:
“You chose lies. I chose facts & proper process for Justice. I’m done.”

That evening, she posted one correction on Google Classroom:
“I didn’t leave the group I was removed. This space works for me.”

And taped this on her desk:

S.A.F.E. = See it. Assert it. Fence it. Energy first.

I’m not the rumour. I’m the record and the TRUTH.

How anyone in place of Bhavana Should React ?

S πŸ‘‰ Self-Awareness (Notice what you feel)

  • What to do: Pause. Take 3 slow breaths. Name the feeling: “I feel hurt/angry/nervous.”

  • Why: Feelings are real, but they are not facts.

  • Bhavana does: “I feel a sting in my chest. Breathe in… out… I’m okay.”

Tip: Use Stop – Think – Choose

  • Stop: Don’t reply fast.

  • Think: Is this true? Do I have proof?

  • Choose: Pick a calm, respectful action.

A πŸ‘‰ Assertiveness (Use your clear voice)

  • What to say :

    • “Please stop saying that about me.”

    • “That’s a rumor. It’s not true.”

    • “I will talk to the teacher/class rep.”

  • How to say it: Normal voice, steady face, stand tall. No name-calling, no yelling.

Bhavana’s line:

“ I’m not arguing. I’ll follow the official process up to legal steps if needed.

Please stop the rumours, Keerthana.”

F πŸ‘‰ Firm Boundaries (Protect your space)

  • Actions:

    • Screenshot means messages or lies.

    • Report to class rep/teacher/counselor with screenshots.

    • Ask for official places for class info (Google Classroom/noticeboard).

    • Ask for neutral admins (teacher + class rep).

  • What not to do: Don’t beg the bully to add you back. Don’t fight in the group.

Bhavana’s message to the teacher

“I was removed and blocked from the class group. There are rumours about my character. I’m sending screenshots. Please share updates on the official channel and set rules so no one is excluded.”

E πŸ‘‰ Emotional Regulation & Energy

Bhavana does: She mutes the group, sketches, and calls a cousin who makes her laugh.

When someone spreads rumors about her, she:

  1. Breathes 3 times.

  2. Say one clear line: “Please stop. That’s not true.”

  3. Screenshot the messages.

  4. Tell the teacher/class rep/counselor with screenshots.

  5. Ask for official updates and neutral admins.

  6. Mute the chat, do one calming activity, communicates only with kind friends

Remember: You are the boss of your peace.

Use S-A-F-E every time.

Slogan: Consequences not conflict.
