Roots and Wings: Whats The Cost of Love ?

Priya had dreamed of this moment for years.

At 24, she finally got the call she had been waiting for a great job in another city. Her hands shook with excitement as she read the offer letter again and again. For the first time, life seemed to be opening a new door just for her.

But when she told her mother, the excitement disappeared from the room.

“You can’t go,” her mother said. “That city isn’t safe. Why do you need to leave us? If you really cared about this family, you would stay.”

Priya’s heart sank.

She knew her mother loved her, but the words stayed with her. Soon came repeated phone calls, warnings, relatives giving advice, and questions that made her feel selfish for wanting a life of her own.

That night, Priya sat quietly on her bed, staring at the job offer. A few hours earlier, it had felt like a dream. Now it felt like a reason to feel guilty.

Her father noticed.

He sat beside her and said, “I’m worried too. You’re my daughter. Of course I worry. But this is your life. Let’s check the area, find a safe place, and plan everything properly. After that, the choice is yours. I’ll stand by you.”

Priya looked at him, her eyes filling with tears.

Both her parents loved her. But one love made her afraid to move, while the other gave her courage to grow.

Moral:

Love should not become a cage. Real care may worry, guide, and protect but it also trusts, respects, and gives us the freedom to fly.
